The Treasury House which is the office of the Accountant General of the Federation in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja was gutted by fire this morning Wednesday April 8th.

According to reports, the fire started from the third floor, razing the building upwards including the Accountant General’s office and most of the important offices. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.

South Korean Health chiefs believe that Coronavirus may lay dormant in cells in the human body and reactivate later after it has been cured after Fifty-one recovered coronavirus patients in South Korea tested positive again days after being released.

The patients - from the country's worst-hit city, Daegu - were put in quarantine after being diagnosed with the virus, then tested positive again days being released.

Thousands of Chinese people stormed popular tourist sites and major cities across China over the three-day Qing Ming Festival holiday, despite warnings from health officials that the Coronavirus pandemic isn't over yet.

Images from the Huangshan also known as Yellow Mountains in Anhui province showed thousands of people jampacked together with many of them wearing face masks, as they struggle to experience outdoors after months of strict lockdown measures.

The photos were taken on Saturday, April 4.

A Downing Street spokesman said he was moved on the advice of his medical team and has asked Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab who is the First Secretary of State, to deputise for him where necessary.

The Chief Magistrate Court 1 Ogba has sentenced actress Funke Akindele and her husband, Abdulrasheed Bello aka JJC Skillz, for defying the social distancing order of the Lagos state government.

The court in its ruling ordered the couple to pay a fine of N100,000 each and also sentenced them to 14 days community service, three hours per day, excluding Saturday and Sunday.

10 Akwa Ibom pastors arrested today for holding services

 
Over 10 pastors have been arrested by the Eket Divisional police headquarters in Akwa Ibom State for holding church services against the stay-at-home directive of the State Government.

Governor Udom Emmanuel had on Thursday, in a statewide broadcast, ordered total lock down of the state

This followed the announcement by the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) that five persons had tested positive for coronavirus in the state.

The Governor also announced the prohibition of gatherings including religious gatherings.

Ubi Franklin has dropped a shade for Big Brother Naija 2019 housemate, Tacha following her response to his comment about her. 

Recall that Tacha slammed the music executive after he disclosed that she was one person he never wanted to see on the reality show in 2019 during an Instalive interview with winner of the 2019 edition of BBNaija, Mercy Eke. She told Ubi Franklin to focus on his kids and those he is owing, and get her name off his mouth. 

Following the backlash Tacha's clapback video triggered, Ubi Franklin has now dropped a shade for her and it centered on her alleged "body odour", which made headlines while she was still a housemate of the reality show.

The Nigeria Center for Disease Control NCDC and Dettol Nigeria, have both reacted after the Lagos state police command this evening arrested actress, Funke Akindele-Bello, for flouting the lockdown order in Lagos state.

Funke and her husband, JJC Skillz had a birthday party at their Amen estate home in Lagos state last night and was attended by quite a number of people which contravenes the social distancing order of the Lagos state government. She was picked up by men of the Lagos state police command this evening while her husband, singer Naira Marley have been asked to come forward for questioning.

Nigeria records eight new cases of COVID-19, total now 232

 
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has announced eight new cases of COVID-19.

It said five of the cases are in Lagos, two  in the FCT and one in Kaduna State.

In a tweet this Sunday evening, NCDC said: “As at 09:30 pm 5th April there are 232 confirmed cases of COVID19 reported in Nigeria. Thirty-three have been discharged with five deaths.”

The party attracted more than the permissible guests in line with the restriction order to contain COVID-19 pandemic.

Another COVID-19 patient has been discharged from the Infectious Disease Hospital in Lagos. This was made known by the state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, at a press briefing this evening.

So far, 25 COVID-19 patients have been discharged from the Infectious disease hospital. Lagos has a total of 108 COVID-19 patients in the state Isolation center.

The governor also spoke on the possible extension of the two-weeks lockdown exercise which began in the state on March 30th;

A Nigerian man, Aghawarianovwe Ikie, who has been diagnosed with Coronavirus, in the UK, has taken to Facebook to shares his near-death experience.

In his post, Ikie recounted how he initially thought he had a flu but when the symptoms persisted, he was examined by the health workers and tested positive for COVID-19.

A Nasarawa state-based housewife, Rosemary Osegba Clem, has said she has no regrets hacking her mother in-law, Mrs Ashi Clem, to death in Abena community in Doma Local Government Area of the state on March 18, over the woman's interference in her marriage.

In an interview with The Nation, Rosemary said she and Abaagu Clem, a farmer and trader, got married in February 2016 but the marriage was yet to produce a child.

A statement released by the Secretary of the Body of Senior Advocates of Nigeria (BOSAN), Seyi Sowemimo, SAN, disclosed that Abayomi died on Thursday April 2nd.

Recall that Elizabeth Oyeniyi, a resident of the state, has accused Danga of physically and sexually assaulting her over a facebook post she made about him on her page on March 29th.

World Bank excludes Nigeria in $1.9bn COVID-19 response launch

 
The World Bank’s Board of Executive Directors has approved $1.9 billion first set of emergency support operations for developing countries around the world, using a dedicated, fast-track facility for COVID-19 (coronavirus) response.

However, the global financial powerhouse excluded Nigeria from the list of the 25 countries to benefit from the support.

The organization said that the decision was reached by the board on Thursday and it was prepared to deploy about $160 billion in the next 15 months with a view to helping countries deal with the COVID-19 pandemic and quick economic recovery.

The family believes the dad of two caught the bug after he returned  from Dubai to Scotland to celebrate his 40th birthday and watch Rangers' clash with Bayer Leverkusen at Glasgow, Scotland.

Coronavirus: Trump tests negative for second time

 
 President Donald Trump said he has undergone a second coronavirus test on using a new diagnostic that produced a result in less than 15 minutes, and it determined he has not been infected.

"I think I took it really out of curiosity to see how quickly it worked," said Trump, who also tested negative last month after coming into contact with a Brazilian official who later tested positive for the coronavirus.
